Emile Midgley: If you're at the Super 8, you could walk to the bridge. It would take about half an hour. Fisherman's Wharf/Ghirardelli Square are also about a half hour walk from there, or you could take the 30 bus (catch it at Chestnut and Scott). From the Wharf, you can access the Alcatraz tour, and also catch the cable car over the hill to Union Square. Getting to the Cliff House would be more complicated (and no, you don't have to pay to see the seals), as would getting to the park. I recommend you use http://www.511.org to help plan your trip. However, since SF is pretty small, a cab would not be prohibitively expensive....Show more
Phil Kuarez: The best transportation option is the 3 day Muni Pass as you can use it on buses, trolleys, light rail and the cable car. SF is compact and you will see most of the city just going from one place to another. If you are contemplating a tour do a walking tour, the BEST way to see San Francisco. jaFrom Lombard stre! et you will have easy access to the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Ghirardelli Square and to the ferry to Alcatraz. For access to Golden gate Park and the Cliff House/SEal Rocks you will have to transfer buses but it is still pretty easy. When you by your 3 day pass also purchase a muni map of the city it will help you get around and it has all the muni routes on it.You don't have to pay to see the seal rocks. There is no way to actually get to them any more [there used to be a rope bridge over 100 years ago] so you can only view them from a distance. If you have more questions feel free to email or IM me through YA, I'll be happy to help....Show more
Nancy Mansell: Think about renting an electric car
Ezekiel Kadner: Thanks a lot!! I was thinking to purchase the 7 days Muni Pass because I'll be staying for 4 and a half days. Is it worth to purchase it even if I have to use sometimes the Golden Gate Transit? Also, does the Golden Gate Transit! have some especial pass like that?I know it's been raining a ! lot, so if we can't walk, we'll get the public transportation, but I don't want to buy Muni Pass and end using more the GG transit.I'm saying that because I read the Muni system is slow. Is that true? either buses or rails???...Show more
