Is summer sausage cooked?

Dannie Briseno: You do not have to cook this sausage,you may eat it as it is,but once opened,it should be refrigerated. My brother likes all meat served warm so I have put this in the microwave just to heat it slightly.Enjoy!!

Coralie Goldsberry: summer sausage is an already cooked meat. The venison summer sausage that my cousin does is pre-cooked, you just slice and serve with cheese and crackers. If your'e referring to another kind of sausage, you can grill or fry it. Then use it in place of any other sausage in a recipe that you have.

Lou Rought: It is smoked which means it is cooked. Smoking it is a form of cooking. Think of smoked salmon....! it isn't cooked but the smoking cooks it.
