why is global warming not real?

Edmund Rappley: we died decades ago“Fifth ice age is on the way…..Human race will have to fight for its existence against cold.” â€" Los Angles Times October 23, 1912 The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot.... Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone... Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. - Washington Post 11/2/1922 Scientist says Arctic ice will wipe out Canada, Professor Gregory of Yale University stated that “another world ! ice-epoch is due.” He was the American representative to the Pan-Pacific Science Congress and warned that North America would disappear as far south as the Great Lakes, and huge parts of Asia and Europe would be “wiped out.” â€" Chicago Tribune August 9, 1923 The discoveries of changes in the sun's heat and southward advance of glaciers in recent years have given rise to the conjectures of the possible advent of a new ice age - Time Magazine 9/10/1923 America in longest warm spell since 1776; temperature line records a 25 year rise - New York Times 3/27/1933...Show more

Pasquale Pollet: global warming is a crisis created by the elite of this planet to bring into being a mechanism for creating a global tax system to support a global government - which is the carbon tax. The carbon trading system is controlled by the Rothschilds. If you don't know who they are just do a google. Most powerful people on the planet or so i hear...oh wait a minute its not called globa! l warming now it's called climate change. just so they can cov! er their asses if it gets cold all of a sudden. the climate always changes btw.even if global warming were true, its a symptom, but not the disease. the disease is profit motivated industry controlled by corporations, which are really just bits of paper which let their owners pollute the land, air and sea with impunity....Show more

Warren Kotter: Not a single one. The ocean level has not risen any appreciable amount since they started recording it. Venice is sinking the waters aren't rising.

Arleen Bussing: Note that this vote means if Congress indeed fails to pass climate legislation, the EPA will begin to regulate greenhouse gas emissions beginning next year.http://epa.gov/oar/pdfs/LPJ_letter.pdfhttp://climateprogress.org/2010/02/23/lisa-jackson...

Daren Ventrice: Maldives

Hans Sachetti: The ice caps are also melting on mars. I'm pretty sure they'll freeze up again. Then again, we have a VERY sad world...

Jarrod Darnall: I care about all coas! tal cities and their people. But these places are just the ones I want to visit. It is not meant to be all-inclusive.

Micah Schwarcz: Maybe they see Al Gore's poll numbers and figure that voting to stop global warming will not be of much political benefit.Maybe they read your post with the bogus attack on Gore's Montecito house, and saw none of the other "moderate" non-deniers defending Gore from a clearly wrong charge.http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Auh4S......Show more

Caryl Mclaen: It's real..

Nancy Mansell: Actually scared is not the proper word in this scenario. As many others have said it you should be concerned about Global Warming and Climate Change. This subject is brought up by many people because currently our planet has a high CO2 level, this has happened before.( Earth has rotational cycles on climate changes ) Currently many scientists who are studying and observing the polar caps are discovering little pools of ice being form! ed. The little pools are actually a big problem because they cause the ! ice to break, which causes the ice to melt faster. For example the smaller a cube of ice gets the faster it melts, it is the same in this scenario also. CO2 is basically a molecule that traps in heat so it wouldn't escape back into space. CO2 can be helpful if there is the proper amount, but if there is more it can be deadly. Our planet can end up like Venus. (a planet that traps in all the heat that enters)Because many people in the world are educating themselves about Global Warming many things are happening. As my teacher puts it always remember the three R's, reuse, recycle, and reduce. Even many companies are installing solar technology to eliminate the extra CO2. You shouldn't be afraid of Global Warming, you should just be aware of the effects and what the consequences are if we don't act soon. If you would like more information then you could go to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/warming/ it will tell you many facts about global warming. You can also go to http://www.pbs.or! g/wgbh/warming/carbon/playalready... it will tell you about the amount of carbon you use and it will also tell you efficient ways to stop the mass amount of CO2 getting into our atmosphere such as carpooling, biking walking, etc....Show more

Galen Gowers: It is election year. Those moderates know they better not vote against their constituency as they often do in non-election years. It is tough for democrats who don't really have an agenda but a bunch of agendas and constituencies. It is hard to satisfy them all. They quite often screw on constituency by doing something for another. They may pass Cap and Trade and destroy jobs thus angering non-government Unions. Obama attempted to scare Dems into climate legislation but they didn't bite. They know it is suicidal politically. Obama obviously doesn't care about the dems in Congress. He cares about his own skin and his leftist agenda. I am guessing Ms. Murkowski's legislation may pass in due time. I find it in! teresting at the supposed high school student's answers. Jesusita Dykhoff: No, they should educate themselves about our natural environment and they will see that we are ALL a part of the ecosystem and have as much right to enjoy a healthy life as any other living thing on this earth. I am not afraid of global warming because I know I can adapt - if an animal can figure out how to survive I think a human can as well as long as we don't get paralyzed by fear like the ones who don't bother to educate themselves on how it all works, they are the ones who will drag down any progress that needs to be made with their hesitation....Show more

Russel Gajate: No, but the media is trying to force people into being scared. Its cyclical. Besides, how can we be the problem when we are cleaner now than we were 100 years ago? If anybody needs to clean up its china, and they dont care at all. Why does America always have to be the problem and the solution? I think we should just keep on livin! g the way weve been living, driving our same cars and doing what we do. The earth has always been changing. We just happen to be living in a time when it is changing again. We shouldnt try to stop it, even if we did we probably wouldnt put a dent in the eco system. Global warming is another way to move the economy in a different direction, and another way for the government to gain control....Show more

Marquetta Gimm: Scared is not the right word.Concerned is a better word, and yes they should be really concerned.Global warming is no joke. There are forces more concerned with profit than the planet and survival of human civilization. Here is the thing. There is plenty of evidence for unsustainable practices leading to the collapse of a regional civilization. Now we are facing the same problem on a planetary scale. So unless you know of another planet we can move to, then we have a real problem.Humans have to learn how to control themselves. We have the ingenuity and mean! s to solve this and every other problem. The main issue is there are a ! minority of people who have a lot of wealth and power who don't want this.It is like they have some Calvinist notion of being the chosen and need to maintain their superior position to reinforce their belief or something....Show more

Jackson Esmiol: I don't "support" Global warming. I just know it's happening...

Inge Mclaurine: Current sea levels are less then levels recorded 165 years ago. The sea levels are receding, not rising. There is no coast line that's in danger at this time.

Sook Hershkowitz: If you don't die from swine flu, you might bake to death from global warming.

Antonette Shappy: Considering how turnover of Senatorial powers does not occur until next year:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate#...that leaves a short time span for Republicans (who will certainly vote along party lines as usual) to vote a new Dirty Air Act into effect, assuming of course they win a majority in the Senate (in the House too). Then you also ha! ve Obama, who will likely veto such a bill if it did pass. The Repubs have better start to realize that their one chance at a market solution (cap and trade) is dwindling fast.In relation to climate legislation: I do not think this current Congress is a worry in regards to obstructing a climate bill. I'm curious as to how the midterm elections will turn out, considering how the Dems have lost some support, yet how the Repubs have the Tea Partyists in some states campaigning against them (fracturing GOP support)....Show more

Ester Bryand: Not necessarily. The dems are trying to cover their butts, but they are all for CO2 regulation. They just need to do it in a fashion that satisfies their constituency.

Marco Stolarz: If global warming causes sea level to rise by several meters. all these places will submerge, totally or partially, but as the expected rise of sea levels will be gradual you could plan to start visiting the places that are going to drown first - Ve! nice, Manhattan, and Florida.and by the way, you forgot to mention New ! Orleans, or is it one of the places you consider too late to visit, because they are already drowned.

Rubye Bonnin: No it is a regular normal cycle that happens every 100 to 150 years. the problem is our last cool cycle and the current warm cycle were shorter than normal and the temp change between them was less severe than normal so when the expected deep cool down in 1975 did not happen and it warmed instead they freaked out and formed one of those millennium disaster cults and started predicting the end of the world. these cults come along on a frequent basis and they gather their faithful for a while and then when the predictions fail as they always do a few believers commit suicide and the hard core ones come up with another prediction and start gathering new followers to skim money off of. But that just happened did it not they changed from global warming to climate change right after a lot of faithful suicide's a couple of years ago when things started cooling ! off.maybe that is why all the major warmers are so frantic lately, because all of their faithful beliefs are being proved false in their religious fervor they might decide that it was a failure of faith on their part that brought on the change to a cooler climate and kill themselves off....Show more

Malcom Bourek: Yes! We are moving way to slow to find renewable energy and to stop global warming. We could have less than 5 years to slow warming before it causes huge damage, such as the acidifying of the oceans and extinction of mountain watersheds. But people are still in denial, no one really wants to face it, so we're not even trying. We have brains 10 times bigger than the dinosaurs, yet we insist on following in their footsteps. Its not happening! Its not happening! Believe anything they say to deny it, quick stick your head in the sand!Corporations are paying big bucks to keep people asleep and complacent while they continue with business as usual (raping and pollu! ting the planet for profit) Do you really think Exxon or Monsanto gives! a hoot about people? As the shocks of shortages increase and it becomes apparent as to what climate change really means, people will start to freak out and point fingers. It will affect everyone, even the privileged western civilizations, drastically. Having no food, no electricity, and no transportation is going to come as quite a shock. .What to do? Try to get your community off the grid (making your own power and water) Read books to educate yourself (below) and check out sites like http://relocalize.net/It doesn't have to be so scary. Coralie Goldsberry: No I don't think any good scientist really believes it is going to destroy the earth in our lifetime. Now is there global warming? I am not sure.Is it man made? I'm not sure.Should we be trying to preserve the rain forests and use our power efficiently? Yes. I did ! not think too much of Obama's comment on putting air in your car tires but it is something we should all do....Show more

Blair Abdi: "But it also would have delayed more efficient fuel economy standards for at least one year..."I'm not sure I understand this statement. If the EPA has control using the Clean Air Act, can't it regulate pollutants like SO2 and NOx? So how would the Dirty Air Act affect efficient fuel economy standards?

Joey Mekeel: Sorry, but it is real. Carbon 12 is preferred by plants, so when the ancient plants in fossil fuels give up their signature carbon 12, it alters the carbon 13/carbon 12 ratio. Look at the thousands of cross checks and graphs that document man made emissions which parallel the rise in global warming since the Industrial Revolution. Always remember that the vast majority (almost all) of the heat energy is held in the oceans. so a leveling or decline in annual or even decadal temperatures in no way contradicts global w! arming (and a temporary cold spell is even a worse tool to use to comba! t global warming). It's a travesty that the 1300 scientists at the IPCC (from 195 countries) have to put up with this nonsense and abuse. Much of the information they gather and analyze is volunteered by dedicated scientists. These volunteers are in on the hoax also? And by the way, the carbon 12 reference is just one facet of evidence of global warming. There are countless cross checks of ice core analyses, solar irradiance detection, and the list goes on....Show more

Jayson Brod: Amanda,It seems pretty clear to me from your question that what you’re looking for is evidence to back up your own belief that global warming doesn’t exist. To this end you’re actively blocking out anything that goes against your belief and are telling people who don’t agree with you to keep quiet.Unfortunately that’s not how the world works. By adopting such an approach you’ve chosen to delude yourself and are purposefully remaining ignorant of the facts. How is it possible to arrive at an informed decision regarding anything when you suppress the evidence. Imagine this scen! ario. A defendant is in court accused of a crime, there’s video evid! ence of him committing the crime, his DNA and fingerprints are all over the crime scene, multiple witnesses saw him committing the crime, he freely admits that he’s the guilty party. What would you think if the trial Judge ruled that none of that evidence could be presented to the court, that the prosecution weren’t allowed to speak and only evidence supporting his innocence could be heard. Would that be fair? Would the outcome be reliable? That Amanda is just what you’re doing. You appear to have made up your mind and only want to hear the evidence that supports your notion. That being the case, it’s evident that your own position is so weak that it’s incapable of withstanding exposure to conflicting evidence.I’m not saying you have to believe in global warming, it’s entirely up to you what you believe in. But if you’re hiding from the mountain of evidence that goes against your belief then you’re never going to arrive at an informed opinion and wi! ll therefore never be able to contribute anything to the global warming debate. You won’t find any genuine studies that claim global warming isn’t real. The junk science stopped being produced in 2006 and 2007 when the oil and power industries were exposed for funding a huge propaganda campaign against global warming. They’ve admitted to this, apologised and promised not to do so again â€" by and large they have kept their word. It’s no surprise therefore that 90% of the climate scientists who claimed global warming wasn’t happening were linked to ExxonMobil.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExxonMobil#Funding_of... Without exception, every argument that has ever been put forward against the theory of global warming can be shown to be false. Take Maxx’s answer for example â€" it’s utter garbage and based on a pack of lies â€" and can very easily be proven to be false. What you may not realise (or want to know) is that the existence of global warming is a consequenc! e of the most powerful and successful of all scientific laws, namely qu! antum mechanics. Global warming is dictated by the same laws that govern the existence of the universe. If you want to pretend that global warming doesn’t exist then you also absolutely have to pretend the universe doesn’t exist either. If you accept that the universe exists then you have to accept that global warming also exists â€" you can’t have one without the other. So what do you want to believe? A pack of incoherent lies purveyed by individuals with no scientific credibility or the invariable and irrefutable laws of the universe. One other thing â€" if global warming didn’t exist then you wouldn’t either....Show more

Alphonso Brake: Hey now, I don't want anyone saying anything remotely bad about Al Gore. He invented the internet, he will take it away from you.

Ira Porietis: The Earth has been getting colder or warmer for thousands and thousands of years. It's more natural that the Earth is getting warmer and in hundreds of years time it will get! colder again.Another thing to keep in mind is that companies use the term 'global warming' to earn money.

Keneth Mailhot: Scared? No. Concerned? Possibly. It seems to be the general consensus that we are going through a warming period, which doesn't mean the end of the world. However, if we are having trouble adapting, we could have issues with things like drought, famine, and natural disasters along coastlines, etc.

Becky Mosena: It's important that you understand that the Earth has always warmed and cooled. This is just another natural warming cycle. Man-made Global Warming is NOT real. The Global Warming advocacy movement has been mired in scandal since its beginning and they have no empirical science to back their claim. Here are some other things you should know:1) The Earth has been both much warmer and much colder in the distant past, long before the industrial age. Climate is indeed changing, but it has always changed and probably always will. These a! re obviously natural cycles that man does not and cannot control.2) Glo! bal Warming alarmist have been caught in one lie after another. Huge scandals have been continuously revealed since the early 1980’s when the campaign began. Some of these are listed below:3) Al Gore’s movie "An Inconvenient Truth" was full of bald faced lies. Like the Polar Bears were drowning, or the Ice Caps were melting, or the oceans were rising --- all lies. In fact a court of England ruled the movie was so flawed that it could not be shown to school children without a disclaimer.4) The ClimateGate affair exposed the utter corruption of the Warmist community with their exposed emails speaking of how they intended to “hide the decline” and how to manipulate data and the peer-review process in their favor.5) Then there is the fact that the globe isn’t even warming anymore and the small amount of warming experienced from the 1900’s to 2001 timeframe was negligible and well within the envelope of normal.6) During this same period of marginal warming, scientist! s also noticed that other planets in our solar system were warming. What do these planets have in common ? --- the Sun.7) Phil Jones, former head of the Climatic Research Unit, University of East Anglia, the Guru and High Priest of Global Warming himself admitted there has been no statistically significant warming. If anyone on the planet would have been aware of statistically significant warming it would have been Phil Jones and he admitted there has been none. (Game Over for Warmist)8) Warmist like Al Gore refuse to engage in any formal debate on the issue. That’s because on the few occasions Warmist have debated openly, they lose, and they lose big. Lord Monckton utterly destroys them time and time again.9) Al Gore and other Warmist have said time and again that they want to make CO2 the object of a global tax. CO2 is the perfect object for a tax for their revenue purposes because you literally cannot live without making CO2 (humans and animals exhale CO2). And current! science has shown clearly that there is no correlation between the pla! net’s mean temperature and the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. Demonizing CO2 is all about the tax dollars --- and that’s all its about.Watch this video created by climate scientist that explains why man-made Global Warming is not true.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtevF4B4RtQ

Hunter Beech: You're missing some of the most important ones, which are more likely to see impacts sooner, and where the people involved would be much more severely impacted than those in the rich cities you cite (which have the resources to deal with it).Two examples are Manila in the Philippines and farmers on the coast of Bangladesh.

Tijuana Tatsak: Theses changes will happen slowly relative to our lifetime. We will recognize the changes in our old age and our children and grand children will live with them, but there will not be massive tidal waves covering cities or instant ice ages. Impacts will happen over a long time relative to our life but instantaneous relative to geological time. A lot of the fear has to do with the costs of reducing the potential impacts. We may have high costs upfront to control the problem, but the costs may be extraordinarily high if we wait too long. The impacts will affect our ecosystems - the system that allow us to grow food, give us fiber and potable water. Developed countries will likely suffer less than developing countries. Here is a link to what the US National Academies of Science have found. http://dels.nas.edu/climatechange/ecological-impac......Show more

At the time the focus was on the "Population explosion". We were told that by the year 2000 most of New York city would be under water from the rising oceans. The oceans were supposed to rise from all the glaciers dropping Ice burgs into the ocean. Just like putting too many ice cubes in a glass of water we would flood the earth. Then in the late 70's into the 80's it was the hole in the ozone. This was going to destroy all plant life with too much ultra-violet radiation.
