Nicolasa Henke: Lilies do not have to be lifted every autumn. They are perennials. As long as they are planted within their hardiness zones they will be fine to overwinter. They are relatively maintenance free. Many Oriental lilies (Lilium) have a heavenly fragrance. They don't like to be planted in wet soil. They must have well drained soil. If you have heavy soil, put them in a raised bed to allow proper drainage. They like a fertile soil also. Amend the soil with good compost....Show more
Bryant Chaudhry: ......Just a little reminder to you that lily pollen is very dangerous to cats and can kill cats, If the lily pollen falls onto the cats fir, the cat licks itself to clean itself, the cat will injest the poisenous pollen and die. I overcome this problem by taking out the pollen stamens literally as the plant is opening, just a little gentle tug and the pollen stamens come off, then i dispose of them in my in my garbage landfill. Just a little thought/care abo! ut the animals !! :o)
