Tana Dumoulin: ok soo... memorize a bunch of differnet monologues and go in with the folder of all of them. When u perform the monologue, get into the character. Like do different accents try being a boy so that they will know u have a wide span of characters. Give it your all. even if u have never done drama tell them u nevere give up on things u start.lil reb
Oscar Waddups: my best tips to beginners at an audition.1. Absolutely do not apologize. If you need to start over just do.2. If you are sick only tell the director and only tell the director (or casting director) once. Try also not to make your sickness as an excuse.3. Come prepared with something memorized if required. Make sure you have it memorized before you audition, and if you have time explore the piece to develop the character you portray.5. As far as concernign monologues, don't do something that everyone will do or is so common that everyone knows it. for two reasons. #one: the director will be bore! d of the piece #two it is harder to do the piece justice. Example: Don't do Romeo and Juliet Monologues. If you do shakespeare do something less popular. Also if you look for monologue books. don't pick books that have monologues written by people just for the purpose of acting. most of these are very poor quality writing. instead pick a book with monologues from movies or plays that have made it. I once did Kevin Spacey's monologue in Seven where he is handcuffed in the car as my Senior Final. I would very much encourage you to find something not to commonly performed. Also, concerning that you are new don't tell them that right away. If they ask what kind of trainging you have had tell them (assuming they look possibly impressed) "actually this would be my first time"...Show more
